Precita Park (Alabama at Precita)
The tens of thousands of San Franciscans left homeless had to eventually move into permanent houses. Before 1906 Bernal Heights was a sparsely populated hill with dairy farms and subsistence gardens. After the catastrophe, hundreds of houses were built or moved to the hill, including shacks from the refugee camp at Precita Park, in 1906 and 1907.
