Contributions of Structural Engineers to Earthquake Safety
Structural Engineers Association of N. CA (SEAONC)
SEAONC is undertaking a series of media initiatives in preparation for the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake centennial on April 18, 2006. The SEAONC Planning Committee's purpose is to maximize positive public exposure for the contributions of SEAONC and structural engineers in general to earthquake safety during the past 100 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, on the centennial of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. SEAONC is working in collaboration with the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute and other organizations to plan for this event.
SEAONC's initiatives include:
*Print, radio and television news media spot light coverage of SEAONC, its members and its contributions to earthquake safety in the 10 days leading up to the centennial.
*Feature programs on public television and local cable stations throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
*A speakers bureau of SEAONC members available for press interviews.
Press releases and news coverage in the 7-10 days leading up to April 18, 2006.
A press conference on April 17, 2006.
