"A Most Dreadful Earthquake" Author Is Guest of KGO's John Rothmann
California Genealogical Society, KGO AM810 Radio
Author Dorothy Fowler is a researcher and volunteer at the California Genealogical Society. She happened to be on hand when a ribbon-bound packet of 40 faded letters written between 13 February and 20 July 1906 turned up unexpectedly in the archives of Oakland’s California Genealogical Society.
Fowler took on the challenge of researching and editing the letters to produce the society’s latest book, "A Most Dreadful Earthquake: A First-Hand Account of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire," which captures the eloquent and personal correspondence of a young San Francisco woman to her sweetheart in the East.
