Precita Park Earthquake Centennial Celebration and Family Picnic
Bernal Heights Preservation
Gather in Precita Park, which was home to a refugee camp and thousands of earthquake shacks immediately after the 1906 quake and fire. Bernal Heights Preservation is building two "ghost shacks" to the exact specifications of the original earthquake shacks. We'll also show historical photographs, original shack timber, and various other 1906-related memorabilia.
All the family is invited to a picnic in the park. Dress in historical costume and join in the fun! We'll have a raffle, with 1906-themed prizes, and refreshments (or you can bring your own).
