Earthquakes for Dummies
Free public lecture about what causes earthquakes, how we measure them, what to expect, their relevance to our local scene, helpful hints about what to do about them -- all presented for lay persons.
Non-academic style, some humor, and many examples. A working seismograph will be exhibted. A 5-minute movie will be shown of a virtual flight along the San Andreas from Portola Valley to Bodega Bay using Google Earth.
