100th Anniversary of the Great Quake & Fire (radio)
This radio program commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Great 1906 Quake and Fire by featuring an audio recreation of the sounds of San Francisco before and after the earthquake, including:
- Enrico Caruso singing the song he performed at San Francisco Grand Opera House the night before the earthquake (April 17, 1906)
- the voice of President Theodore Roosevelt speaking on news events of April 1906 (the Standard Oil Antitrust lawsuit)
- an interview with the host's late grandmother, Katherine Lilienthal, about the event, and life just after it for San Francisco families of Lilienthal (Haas Brothers Wholesale Groceries), Solomons and Gerstle (Alaska Commercial Co.).
- the HOT HITS of 100 Years Ago -- actually, the top songs of 1906 in short sound snippets (bites) of music, familiar to us today.
