Hygienic Catastrophy Avered & Ned's Snapshots

Lt Col George Henry Torney, as commander of the Presidio General Hospital, on April 20, 1906, was assigned the position of "Chief Santitary Officer" for the city of San Francisco. His efforts to prevent the outbreak of contagious diseases, provide safe food facilities, medical care and properly prepared sanitary facilities will be explored. Lt Col Torney's son "Ned" took 75 photos starting on April 18th, showing damaged buildings, raging fires, homeless citizens and Refugee Camps. Part of the collection will be shown.
