"06" is a two-act play. Act one takes place at the corner of Market and Kearny at three different times on the eve of the 1906 quake. First, at approx. 7:30 pm, we see the bustle of the after work crowd and folks going to the theatre. Secondly, at approx. 9:30 pm, we meet shoppers and groups of children going home for the evening. Lastly, at approx. 4:30 am, we encounter children going home from working all night in sweat shops whose plight is the most tragic of all.
Act two takes place in one of the many refuge camp set up throughout San Francisco to provide shelter for the homeless after the earthquake. Here we get a glimpse of how the quake affected the characters we encountered in Act one. The cooperation and cultural mingling in these camps had a great democratizing effect on the survivors and helped set the tone for the rebirth of San Francisco.

Historically correct, this play puts a face on 1906 earthquake survivors.
We can use volunteers of all ages. The opportunities are endless. Since it would be a City Sponsored project, developed as an educational piece. I believe we could call on the arts community to help. I believe we could get help from local theatres to help accomplish this. I also believe we could get local arts organizations to help promote and participate in this project.
