100th Anniversary Earthquake Conference: Managing Risk in Earthquake Country

The 100th Anniversary Earthquake Conference is co-convened by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), the Seismological Society of America (SSA), and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES).

Under the theme "Managing Risk in Earthquake Country", this conference brings together 2,000+ professionals from various disciplines who are committed to reducing the risk of earthquakes, while advancing earthquake research and mitigation.

This group includes earth scientists, geotechnical/structural engineers, risk managers, insurers, land use/regional planners, emergency managers, educators, and local government policymakers.

Led by internationally renowned experts and scholars, more than 100 sessions are planned that highlight the latest advances in science, engineering, and emergency management.

Daily tutorials designed specifically for teachers and the business community will be offered.

The conference also has more than 25 exciting field trips to bring home the realities and science of earthquakes.

On Thursday, April 20, attend an striking presentation explaining how San Francisco would fare if the 1906 earthquake struck today.
